Oyster kits fruit fast in an open bag and need daily misting, with spores going everywhere. MycoDome grows medicinal Reishi inside a sealed dome that holds its own humidity, so upkeep stays minimal and the mess stays contained.
After the first mist to activate the base, MycoDome needs very little watering. Lift the dome for a brief daily air exchange; the enclosed moisture usually keeps the substrate humid enough on its own.
MycoDome does well in normal indoor room temperatures, away from direct sun, radiators, or AC vents. Indirect light is enough since Reishi doesn't need bright light to develop its antler shape.
Because Reishi grows inside a closed dome instead of an open bag, spore release stays far more contained than with typical oyster kits. Most apartment growers keep it on a shelf or desk without any issue.
White, fuzzy growth spreading evenly is healthy mycelium settling in, completely normal early on. Green, black, or pink patches are contamination; scrape them away and keep an eye on the spot.
Most growers notice the first small pins within a couple of weeks under normal room conditions. From there, the antler-shaped Reishi keeps developing for several more weeks into its full sculptural form.
